For decades, Alfred Enderle, consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) for many years, dedicated himself to researching the topic of dwarfism. His initially medical interest increasingly shifted towards the cultural history aspect of the condition, and extended to various media. Besides a library with approx. 600 titles, as well as a collection of prints (approx. 200) from the 16th to the 20th century, Enderle's generous donation to Hessen Kassel Heritage contains approx. 1,500 historic picture postcards that provide a unique overview of and insights into the topic. This collection has now been made accessible, and may be used for scientific research purposes, on request.
